Pacers wrap up top seed in the East

In the 80′s, the Pistons had to go through the Celtics, just like the Bulls had to go through the Pistons. Fast forward 24 years later, and the Pacers have to go through the Heat.

Well, the Indiana Pacers took one step in the right direction as they clinched the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference with the Miami Heat’s 114-93 loss to the Washington Wizards on Monday. The Heat were minus LeBron James and Chris Bosh, who did not play as part of a coaches decision.

For the last two seasons, the Pacers have pushed the Heat to the brink of elimination. Last year, it was the Heat winning game 7 at home to send the Pacers packing for the summer. Is this the year, with home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference Playoffs, that Indiana moves on to the NBA Finals?

If 1 plays 2, as expected, and the series goes to a seventh game, the Heat will have to prove they can win a critical game 7 on the road. That’s something they have not had to do in their two year title run. Some new adversity for LeBron and company.
